๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ When busy becomes your comfort zone

Let’s Talk: Studio Talent Collective Blog

This week felt like a relief but yet, I found myself trying to stay "busy"...

As I battled with resting guilt

๐Ÿ’œ After a really busy couple of months inside the business; supporting talent, studio owners, agency clients and juggling all the moving parts, things suddenly felt calm again.

And honestly? I didn’t quite know what to do with that at first.

I found myself having earlier work days, wrapping by 4pm, clearing the inbox properly and getting back to inbox zero (which, if you know me, is my happy place ๐Ÿ˜‚). It felt odd… but also welcomed.

I think sometimes when we’ve been operating at full speed for so long, slowing down can almost feel uncomfortable. Like we should be doing more.

But I actually think these quieter moments are important.

One of the things I did this past week was host our Quarterly Accountability calls inside Studio Talent Collective.

I run these in small groups for our studio partners and intentionally don’t record them because I want studio owners to feel safe to be honest and open without worrying about replay or performance. The value comes from showing up live, connecting and reflecting in real time.

Across the accountability sessions, we focused on two simple things:

  • Reflecting on the last 90 days
  • Setting goals for the next 90 days

And honestly, I think this kind of check-in is one of the most underrated parts of business growth.

We’re so often focused on the “doing” that we forget to pause and actually assess what worked and what didn't.

There’s something really powerful about stating your intentions out loud in a room with peers. That’s where the accountability piece comes in.

So if you don’t already have that support around you, I’d really encourage you to create it. Whether that’s through a community, a business friend, a mentor or even just scheduling your own 90-day reflection sessions independently.

It really does help move the needle.

Now onto next week…

The Room Where It Happens

I’m heading to the Victorian Dance Festival for the first time in two years, which I’m really excited about. Being Sydney-based, it’s an easy enough trip, but as always, it still takes planning to carve those days out properly.

I’m actually flying in a day early because one of our represented artists, Ruby, is currently playing the role of Lulu in Waitress the musical in Melbourne ๐Ÿ’œ

Ruby is from Laneway Dance, one of our amazing partner studios, and the production team kindly gifted me tickets to attend as her agent. Gotta love a free ticket! haha

Then the following day, I’ll be at Victorian Dance Festival not only as an exhibitor, but also speaking as one of the mentors during the roundtable discussions.

I’ll be sharing insights around talent representation and how studios can create agency opportunities within their own businesses if that’s something they’re exploring.

So yes… after a quieter week, we’re heading straight back into another big one.

And I’m good for it. Because being in the room where its happening is what it's all about in 2026... (and yes, lets give a nod to Hamilton)
