πŸ“šπŸ’ More Play, Less Doom Scrolling

Let’s Talk: Studio Talent Collective Blog

Send help! Or don't. Because honestly? I am absolutely loving it.

After spending the last few weeks travelling across three states, meeting Studio Owners, aspiring artists, speaking at events, and generally living out of a suitcase, I'm finally back in Sydney and settling into a more normal rhythm.

And while I'm absolutely excited to dive back into all the things, I've also become completely obsessed with something that has stolen a surprising amount of my attention...

Off Campus.

If you haven't heard of it yet, it's the new series on Amazon Prime that seems to have millennial women everywhere in a chokehold. And once you meet Garrett Graham, you'll understand why.

I watched the series. Then I watched it again.

Then I bought The Deal by Elle Kennedy (the book the series is based on).

Then I finished it in less than a week.

Then I panicked because I was reaching the end, called my husband while he was working in the Sydney CBD, and begged him to stop at the bookstore on the way home and buy me the next book in the series.

I'm now halfway through The Mistake.

Send help! Or don't. Because honestly? I'm loving it.

What's surprised me most isn't the books themselves. It's what they've replaced.

Instead of doom scrolling, I'm reading. And instead of reaching for my phone on my lunch break or in the evening, I'm reading.

And paired with my recent obsession with long baths (yes, the bubble bath photo from last week's wrap-up was very real), I've realised something...

It can't be all work.

Business is humming along. The wheels are turning. We're growing. We're hiring. Things are moving. But I also need more fun and more play.

You know? More things that have absolutely nothing to do with productivity.

So here's my challenge for you this week:

What are you doing purely for fun?

And if you've watched Off Campus or read the books, DM me immediately at @studiotalentcollective because I am absolutely here for a full fandom conversation.

Who's your favourite character or moment? Let's discuss.

Studio Talent Hotline πŸ“ž

Last Thursday of every month, I jump onto Instagram Live to answer questions from our Talent Toolkit members inside our talent agency, Studio Talent Collective.

This month's questions were great, so I wanted to share a quick recap.

  • Sara from Victoria asked: "Can I apply for jobs that don't come directly from my agent?"

Yes - but check with us first.

Opportunities you find through Casting Networks, social media, or other sources are often different to the roles we receive as an agency. Some are fantastic. Others may be underpaid or have less favourable terms.

Before applying, simply forward the opportunity to your agent.

Why? We may have already submitted you, and we can also help ensure the pay, conditions, and opportunity are right for you. πŸ’œ

  • Ellie from Victoria asked: "Does no news mean I wasn't selected?"

Usually, yes.

In the industry, it's often a case of "don't call us, we'll call you."

If there's movement on your audition, a callback, or a booking, you'll hear from us straight away. If casting provides release information, we'll pass that on too.

The best thing you can do after an audition? Submit it, let it go and then move on to the next opportunity.

That's exactly what the professionals do. πŸ’œ

Missed the live?

Whether you're a Talent Toolkit subscriber or not, you can tune in on Instagram on the last Thursday of every month for industry tips, questions, and talent advice.

If you're not already following along, come hang out with us over on Instagram @StudioTalentCollective  πŸ’œ
