🎬✨The moment I realised Studio Owners were sitting on something bigger

Let’s Talk: Studio Talent Collective Blog
More than classes. More opportunity.
I've spoken at many dance and industry conferences in the past, but this week, with The Australian Dance Festival (ADF) underway, I’m brought back to 2 years ago.
I was standing in front of a group of teachers and studio owners at ADF, talking about something I’d become completely obsessed with:
What if the studio could be more than the place where talent trained?
What if it could also be the place where ALL talent was connected to the industry?
Inclusion is something I truly value, and I felt so compelled to discuss how opportunities in the professional industry were not just reserved for the competition or pro development students.
Recreational students could get involved too!
I’d already seen what happened when you put the right systems around talented young performers.
Auditions. Photoshoots. Bookings. Professional opportunities.
But I kept seeing the same thing with studio owners.
They had incredible students and they had families who trusted them. But they didn’t believe it was possible. Or perhaps they were scared that having a talent management service may isolate certain families.
It’s simply not true.
Opportunity is for everybody, and talent is everywhere.
Let’s take a commercial role as an example.
You could have 2 left feet and be in the back corner of a routine, but NAIL that finger-licking-good campaign where you bite into a piece of chicken with confidence and conviction.
Sure, it’s not the lead in a musical.
But it’s a gig. And it’s one to be proud of.
EVERYONE in your studio can have access to this type of role - while those who want more challenging roles can have access to those too.
That’s where the idea for Studio Talent Collective really came from - giving access to opportunity and making the professional arts industry inclusive.
Fast forward to today, and we’re now supporting studios across Australia to bring an in-house Talent Agency into their business in two different ways, depending on how involved they want to be.
And after a couple of years of running the agency, I’ve learned a lot about what actually works for studio owners, what creates the most value and what makes the biggest difference for their students and families.
If you’ve ever wondered what having an in-house Talent Agency could look like inside your studio, I’d love to show you.
There are two pathways with Studio Talent Collective.
