Permission to do... Nothing

Well almost nothing 🐾

I had every intention of working yesterday.

My laptop was there. My Trello board list was ready. I had a full day blocked out to get ahead on a few projects.

Instead, I stayed in bed far longer than planned. With my dog Daisy as my feet, I binge-watched Every Year After on Prime, took the kids out for lunch and haircuts, and by the end of the day... I hadn't even opened my computer. 

Normally I'd feel guilty about that.

💜 Yesterday, I didn't.

Maybe it's because we're in the middle of school holidays. Maybe it's because the last few months have been big. Or maybe it's because sometimes our brains know we need a reset before we do.

It got me thinking about studio owners.

Many of you have just wrapped up your mid-year showcases. The costumes are packed away, the rehearsals have slowed down and for the first time in a while, you've got a little breathing room.

I really hope you're taking it.

Not because your business isn't important, but because you can't pour into your students, your staff and your families if you're constantly running on empty.

Tools down and having space, encourages creativity and bigger picture thinking. It's important!

The only thing I'd encourage you not to do is mistake resting for pressing pause on your future.

School holidays are actually one of the best times to think about what's next, simply because you finally have the headspace to do it.

Don't mistake pawsing as a PAUSE ;-)

Yeah, yeah a little word play there for my fellow poets out there.
